An open door

The recent blessing of a 33,000 square foot warehouse for Love In Action reminded me of two verses from Revelation. But first, let me lay the groundwork to show you why this verse means so much to me and to this ministry.

Back in 2001, Love In Action was in its infancy. Mike Shroades and I had recently launched the ministry, and our vision was tremendous. We knew God had called us to reach out to the homeless and the poor by providing for their physical and spiritual needs. It was a huge call, and being a new ministry we had very little financial support. That didn’t stop us though. We were determined to go forward with what God had called us to do.

It was at that time when I felt the Holy Spirit leading me to read Revelation 3:7-8. I remember flipping through the pages of the Bible and being nervous, because there is some rough stuff written in that book. Revelation wasn’t one of the books of the Bible that I knew as well as others. But, when I read those verses, the nervousness left and tears filled my eyes.

It reads: "To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.”

God spoke so clearly to me through His Word that night. I knew He truly had placed before us an open door that no one could shut. I knew we had little strength, but I also knew that we had kept God’s Word as best we could and had not denied His name. Therefore, I knew Love In Action would be successful, because it’s God’s ministry and when He calls you to do something and you are obedient to Him, you will be successful.

Now, seven years later our prayer for a warehouse has been answered. When my beautiful wife and ministry partner, Martha, and I walked into that warehouse for the first time we were overwhelmed by God’s goodness. Our minds raced a million miles per hour with one idea after another. But most of all, our hearts filled with praise to our wonderful and awesome God.

There’s so much more to write about this awesome blessing of a warehouse, so stay tuned, more will follow. Please be praying for us as we should get the keys to it next week, then meet with the trucking company about them donating truckloads of food for us to distribute.

Way to go Mikey! That boy is the man!
God is truly amazing. We're still just in total awe at what God is doing. We can't wait to get the keys next week and start moving in. I'll call you when we have the keys.
Love you Bro. - Ken
