Martha serves plates of food from our food trailer to couple of our friends. |
As we delivered plates of food to the homeless and those who are home insecure on Saturday, I knocked on the door of a local hotel room. A woman opened the door, looked at me, smiled and said, "I'm still here."
She wasn't talking about still being at the hotel. She was saying, "I'm still alive." I said, "Praise God," and we hugged. Two years ago she was a patient at the Samaritan Clinic. Our volunteer doctors discovered she had lung cancer. She went through treatment and is "still here."
"Y'all saved my life," she said smiling. "Thank you."
She walked out to our food trailer to see Martha and receive a plate of food. She thanked Martha, too.
I praise God for all He has done and is doing in the lives of the homeless here in Dothan. Thanks to our volunteers, people are coming to Jesus because of their acts of kindness. Like this sweet woman. She praised God for what He did for her through the Samaritan Clinic. If our doctors and medical staff didn't volunteer their time and talents, she probably would not be alive today.
Our wonderful volunteers touch hundreds of lives every week. While they may not realize it at the moment, they are making a difference for eternity. It's like the five people who made decisions for Jesus on Saturday at Love In Action. They have been coming to LIA for a while. They have heard the Gospel and experienced the love of Jesus through our volunteers. All of those seeds planted by words and actions came to fruition on Saturday.
Thank you to all of our volunteers. We need more volunteers. Please come join us. Here is a link to our weekly schedule, https://loveinactionministries.com/dothan/weekly-schedule
Come join us and make an eternal difference in the lives of the homeless and those living in poverty here in our community.
