One very important aspect of Love In Action is we provide an atmosphere where the Body of Christ can come together and do nothing but focus on serving Jesus.
Too often when we mention "church," we are talking about a building. That's not what "church" really means. The church is the Body of Christ. We are to represent Jesus and serve Him together in unity. At Love In Action we see that happen every week, and it's a beautiful thing to see.
This past Tuesday was a great example. We had three different things going on at the same time, and none of it could have been done without all of our wonderful volunteers who come from different towns and cities around the Wiregrass and from different denominations.
We had an army of volunteers at the free health clinic for the homeless, which we have every Tuesday. We had so many we had to send some to help with Celebrate Recovery Inside. These were new volunteers and they jumped in with both feet at both outreaches. They brought food for the clinic and served it, and when I took someone over to CRI, they were serving dinner there.
All of our other volunteers were busy serving those who come to the clinic and to CRI. There were also volunteers at the new Love In Action Ministry Center cleaning. Some of them were inmates from work release who volunteered to be there because they wanted to give back to a ministry that has given so much to them. There were also a couple of guys who have been through the CRI program and a couple of former homeless men helping.
I put one of the former homeless men in charge of the work crew a the LIA Ministry Center, and he did a great job.
It was an incredible night of ministry. Many lives were touched with the love of Jesus Christ, and a lot of work was accomplished. Martha and I could not help but smile and thank God. He has assembled a great group of people to serve "the least of these" here in Dothan, and He keeps bringing more to serve. It's awesome to see the Body of Christ working together.
We serve an awesome God!
