Have you ever heard Brandon Heath's song "Give Me Your Eyes"? If you listen to contemporary Christian music I'm sure you have since it's No. 7 on 20 The Countdown Magazine this week.
It's an awesome song and really speaks to my heart. We need to look at people through God's eyes. There are millions of people with broken hearts and millions who live on the streets who are forgotten by society. God can mend all of those broken hearts, and He has not forgotten the homeless.
All God asks of us is to allow Him to work through us; be His hands and feet. We just need to be obedient to God and willing for Him to work through us. When we do, it's amazing what God does. That's what Love In Action is all about - proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ through acts of compassion. Putting feet to Matthew 25:35-36. Letting the broken hearted know that God loves them and has a plan for them (Jeremiah 29:11).
Here's a link to Brandon Heath's Give Me Your Eyes video:

Watch the video and listen to the song and let it minister to you and challenge you to look at people through the eyes of God.
Here are the lyrics:
Looked down from a broken sky
Traced out by the city lights
My world from a mile high
Best seat in the house tonight
Touched down on the cold black tile
Hold on for the sudden stop
Breath in the familiar shock
Of confusion and chaos
All those people going somewhere?
Why have I never cared?
Chorus:
Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that live far beyond my reach
Give me your heart for the once forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see.
yeah
yeah
yeah
yeah
Step out on a busy street
See a girl and our eyes meet
Does her best to smile at me
To hide whats underneath
There's a man just to her right
Black suit and a bright red tie
Too ashamed to tell his wife
Hes out of work
Hes buying time
all those people going somewhere?
Why have I never cared?
Chorus
I've Been there a million times
A couple of million eyes
just move and pass me by
I swear I never thought that I was wrong
Well I want a second glance
So give me a second chance
To see the way you see the people all alone
Chorus X 2

Ken,
Thanks for calling yesterday. I can always count on you for encouragement. This is a great post. I can remember as a young believer that was always my prayer. Let me see with your eyes. I think the times I have had difficulties with people within the church was because I was trying to see with the eyes of Christ, and sometimes people don't see what you see. I am convinced when you see a homeless person....you say there is Jesus now how can I serve him. You amazingly look past the appearance, the addictions, the lies, and look to the heart. Not to imply that all homeless people are a bunch of lying drug addicts...but many are. You seem to have the ability to look past all the adversity to serve what Christ call the least....that will make you first one day. You are a great brother in Christ. I love you and Martha very much.
Mike
Thanks Bro. I learned a lot of what I do in the ministry from you. When you travel all around the nation ministering together, you tend to learn things from each other. I've said it hundreds of times and I'll say it again, you are a great leader and you have a tremendous heart for people. I've never met anyone who cares more about others than you.
When I think back to the early days of Love In Action, I think about all the ministry we did together and traveling from NYC to LA to Daytona Beach. Man, it was nice being young and having all of that energy. :-)
Actually, I've noticed the more I'm obedient to God, the more strength He gives me to accomplish His will. If I would just get back into shape, I'd have even more energy. :-)
Bro, we've always been like the Bible talks about in Proverbs 27:17: "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another."
I love you Bro. Keep doing what you're doing and watch God do amazing things in Enterprise, Florida and anywhere else God leads you.
Ken
