As we come to the close on our 28 Days of Prayer for the Exploited, I personally want to thank each one of you. Our God is able,
and through your prayers, He will become more evident in the lives
affected by this horrendous injustice.
You are changing the future for
the hopeless and needy by intervening on their behalf. But please don’t
stop now, their lives depend on it. We want you to pray what the Lord
lays on your heart, but I will leave you with prayer points from Prayers
for Freedom that we are using in our group to continue to pray daily
over this situation. Continue to seek the Lord, become aware, get
involved, support the cause, and save a life. Thank you again and God bless
you. All for His glory!
"Now all glory to God, who is able,

Prayer Points
1. People will be aware of the problem of Human Trafficking & Slavery.
2. Law enforcement will have the training needed to identify victims & wisdom to handle each situation.
3. Government will implement and enforce policy surrounding Human Trafficking.
4. There will be after-care housing for all victims of Human Trafficking trained to help the needs of trafficked victims.
5. The victims will receive all areas of healing that they need - physically, spiritually and mentally.
6. The victims will find a personal relationship with Christ and complete restoration.
7. The victims will have the ability and opportunity to get work, housing and training for a new life.
8. The justice system will help facilitate the prevention of the demand for slavery.
9. That people that are facilitating the sex industry will find a relationship to Christ and stop.
10. That the traffickers (organized crime and individuals) will be brought to justice.
11. That the traffickers will find a personal relationship with Christ.
12. Proclamation over each victim’s freedom through Christ.

Day 27: Praying for the exploited

Pray for more shelters that can provide quality aftercare to trafficking (victims) survivors. The prayer guide says victims, but that's not a word I like. People survive trafficking, just like people survive cancer or survive a category 5 tornado ... things that are out of their control. The few trafficked souls that do make it out are survivors.
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." - Matthew 7:7
The numbers will change. As we pray and seek freedom for those that are bound, the Lord will make it happen. When more people become aware of the signs of human trafficking - and make the call - the 1-2 percent who are being rescued right now will increase.
The need is great. There are 100,000 children being held in the bonds of sexual slavery in the United States alone, and we desperately want all of them to be free. But are we prepared if they were? Not at all.
There are not enough shelters in the United States to carry the load of those currently being rescued, but every week I read about groups that are stepping up to meet this growing demand. In Alabama, the Wellhouse (http://the-wellhouse.org) has been gifted with two more properties to grow its facilities in Birmingham. Another group in the Auburn/Opelika area (http://

The need is great, but the Lord will meet our needs as we bring our requests to Him. If we allow Him, He will use you and me to meet the needs of the needy. He is faithful.
I read a quote by Jen Hatmaker on Christine Caine’s facebook page a bit ago that said, “If we spend all our time serving saved people, blessing blessed people & discipling discipled people WHEN will we have time to connect with the lost?”
Many of those being rescued are lost and need to know our Savior, but without the proper Christ-centered aftercare, they may not ever get a chance. Has the Lord blessed you in ways you could bless others? Are you willing to allow Him to use you to be a blessing?

Day 26: Praying for the exploited

Pray that the rescued will experience safety, strength, support and new life.
There are 27 million out there. Surely you have seen one; I’m pretty sure I have. But was I really looking or just looking past? Would you know what to look for if you did see someone being trafficked ... to offer hope of their rescue?
The following is a list of warning signs from the Innocents at Risk website to give us insight on signs to look for.
Trafficked persons are not always hidden in dark rooms, away from the public eye. They are transported from one place to another. They use public transportation. Since they suffer injury and harm, they require medical care at hospitals and domestic violence shelters. Since they seek relationships with people of the same religious, ethnic and cultural groups, they attend places of worship and go to community centers.
To be able to assist, we need to know what to look for. A combination of any of the following indicators could signal the presence of suspicious activity and possible human trafficking.
A trafficked person may:
• Have injuries or signs of physical abuse.
• Appear malnourished.
• Seem disoriented and not know where he or she is.
• Have few personal possessions and always wear the same clothes regardless of the weather or circumstances.
• Not have identification documents.
• Avoid eye contact and appear hesitant to talk to strangers.
• Be fearful of authority figures, especially law enforcement.
• Rarely be allowed to come and go independently and may be accompanied by someone who controls their every movement.
• Work excessively long hours.
This heinous crime is happening all around us. If you see anything that might indicate a person is being trafficked or if it just doesn’t seem/ look right, please call your local authorities or the Human Trafficking National Resource Hotline 1-888-373-7888.
Most victims do not call to identify themselves as victims or are not aware that help is available. By looking at the situation instead of past it, you may be the only one that can offer hope of their rescue so they can move on to a new life of safety and freedom.

Day 25: Praying for the exploited

Pray that the well-meaning advocacy groups will avoid the temptation to "victimize the victims".
"And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'" Acts 20:35
There are many groups that have risen up to take on this cause, understandably, because it is so wicked. And it is necessary to do all that can be done to break the chains that surround this epidemic in our world today. But, even though a person can be rescued from their physical situation, they can only truly be set free when Jesus is at the center of their healing and restoration process.
It takes time. Scars are deep, physically and emotionally. We must consistently strive to bless those victimized around us with the abilities and gifts the Lord has given us while keeping Him at the forefront of our efforts. He created each of us uniquely as one body, but placed us within His body to work together to offer freedom and life for those around us, and for those who can’t fight for themselves.
"For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ." - 1 Corinthians 12:12

"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him." - James 1:5
"But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy." - James 3:17
We all need wisdom and discernment from the Lord to get through our daily lives. But on days when things are hard and they just don’t make sense, I am even more thankful that He knows, and He cares, and He is faithful to be trusted. He will direct the paths of those who seek Him.
"But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption." - 1 Corinthians 1:30
It is only through Christ Jesus that we can gain His understanding and discernment. Seek Him more today.

Day 23: Praying for the exploited

Pray for those, like Joseph, who are victims of trafficking for forced labor.
"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed." - Proverbs 31:8
How far would you go to know? To know the truths about the products you purchase? To know if the brands you wear use forced labor? Would you learn enough to stand against the enslaving of millions of adults and children around the world?
For one anti-trafficking group, they are in the forefront of this movement to abolish slave labor that plagues many of the products we buy, many of the services we enjoy, and to offer real change and opportunity for those trapped.
The non-profit group, “Not For Sale” began when founder, David Batstone, discovered that his favorite restaurant in the Bay area had been the center of a local human trafficking ring. He realized this was a growing international issue and affected every industry and every corner of the earth. He wrote a book in 2007 by the same name and began this organization.
Not For Sale fights modern day slavery around the world using business creation, supply chain evaluation, and aftercare aid. By creating job opportunities for vulnerable communities, offering good social services to survivors and those at-risk to human trafficking, and evaluating the use of forced labor in mainstream supply chains. They work to ensure that no one is for sale.
One of the many projects that Not for Sale is noted for is their FREE2WORK campaign. Extensive research has gone into the data that is supplied for discovering which companies use fair practices in their work standards. For us, looking at a barcode doesn’t mean much, but in using their Apparel Industry Trends Report or FREE2WORK’s mobile app, you can instantly know whether a shirt or shoes you buy meet the requirements for fair labor practices.

Day 20: Praying for the exploited

Pray that God and His people will be so active in our families and communities that oppression cannot exist.
It is exciting and encouraging to see God’s people working together to accomplish His purpose. Not one church, not one ministry, but the body of Christ serving together to love on people and share Jesus with them. That’s what I love about Love in Action International Ministries - One body, His body, serving together in love.
"For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don't use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love." - Galatians 5:13
Too many times, though, I hear about believers who are unwilling to show love and mercy to others, instead of hating the sin that has engulfed them. Unfortunately, some go as far as spreading false information and spewing hatred toward other believers just because they don’t have the same ways of doing things - different style of worship, different way of teaching, etc. This is an especially useful tool of the enemy in our day. Why would unbelievers want to follow Christ when so many believers struggle to show them that He is worth following?
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." - John 13:34-35
They will know by His love. God is love. Jesus came to earth to redeem us because of His great love for us. If you are a believer, we are one body, united together by His love. We have to be very careful to not let oppression come from us therefore causing division in His body. We need to be more like Him and pour love into all the people who surround us, not just the ones that are easiest. Hate the sin, love the sinner. Actions speak louder than words.
We, at Love in Action International Ministries, invite you to join with us in offering hope and love to a lost and hurting world. There are many opportunities for you, as a part of Christ’s body, to become active in serving others in our community. Some of the areas we serve are reaching out to the homeless, the bus station outreach, free medical clinic for the homeless, human trafficking outreach, Bible study, food and clothing pantries, providing meals and toiletry kits, local and international missions, future transitional housing and so much more.

Day 19: Praying for the exploited

Pray that Godly families will consider fostering or adopting at-risk children and teens.
"But you, God, see the trouble of the afflicted; you consider their grief and take it in hand. The victims commit themselves to you; you are the helper of the fatherless." - Psalm 10:14
"If one family in every three churches in the U.S. adopted a child, we would adopt every orphan in the U.S." - Adoptionjourney.org
That is a pretty staggering statistic, but only because it is very doable. Unfortunately, just because something is doable, doesn’t mean it gets done. There are currently 1.4 million children in the foster care system in the United States today, waiting, waiting for someone to care for them, someone to meet their needs, someone to love them like Jesus does.
Instead of finding acceptance and love and a place to call home, some children who find themselves placed in foster families are seen as a commodity; they are only valued by the check that is paid for them. The following excerpt is from a young woman identified as “T.” It tells her story in the foster care system as shared by Malika Saada Saar, the executive director of Rights4Girls.
“T” was born into the foster care system and trafficked at the age of 10, sold to men all over California, Washington, Oregon and Nevada. She recently shared her own observation at a Congressional briefing on how foster care rendered her vulnerable to being exploited. “In most of my 14 different placements in foster care homes, I was raped, and attached to a check. I understood very early that I could be raped, cared for, and connected to money. It was therefore easy to go from that to a pimp, and at least the pimp told me that he loved me.”
In “most” of her placements, she was raped. Outrageous! Now I know every system has its flaws, everything has its good and bad. But when more than 50 percent of young women are ending up into forced prostitution because of these flaws, with many inflicted by sexual and physical abuse, we need to strive harder for achieving a better solution.
But a solution has been offered in the above statistic. So then why is it that we, as Christ’s body, are not willing to accept this responsibility? When we say we want to be like Jesus, then why aren’t we being like Him? Just one family in every three churches. Will you be that one?

Day 18: Praying for the exploited

Pray for the directors of a day shelter in South Asia, where teen girls receive education and life skills. Pray for reinstatement of a program designed to keep girls under the age of 13 off the streets. The program was canceled a year ago due to lack of funding, resources and staff.
"Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith." - Galatians 6:9-10
Under the age of 13 . . . .they were 9 or 10 years old possibly, or younger- most of us can’t even imagine. Sadly, we have learned what will likely happen to them if they do go back out on the streets. It is heartbreaking. Girls need time, and a safe place, to grow and become young women. There is enough concern on their minds just to survive with the basic necessities of food and shelter without being preyed upon. But in reality, another life is tragically altered.
In the United States, we have a this problem, too. Eighty percent of girls who find themselves in the clutches of sex trafficking are runaways or from the foster care system. Most already have low self esteem and feelings of worthlessness from their lives of abandonment and trauma. Sometimes their home lives are so permeated with abuse that anything would be better. They feel they have no option but to leave.
Girls on the street usually have a window of about 48 hours to be rescued before their situation turns grim. Even then, they are not always aware of what their future holds. Traffickers “court” their victims to build trust and loyalty at this vulnerable time. This is an easy open for a girl who is hungry and has nowhere to stay. Just in friendliness, he offers her the care and love she has always wanted. He knows all the right things to say and do. He builds upon his role as caretaker. When the “boyfriend” stage begins, she is trapped. She will most likely do anything he asks and if not, he will use force.
There are no easy answers or fixes. You just can’t change something that is this broken overnight. However, we do know nothing will change until people realize it is a problem; until our country wakes up to see it is here.
We, at Love In Action International Ministries, pray for the Lord to guide our every step in this matter. We only want to do what He wants us to do to change the current situation. In truth, we know real hope and change will only come when Jesus' love is poured into these young lives, whether here in the U.S. or in South Asia or anywhere in between.

Pray for the directors of a day shelter in South Asia, where teen girls receive education and life skills. Pray for reinstatement of a program designed to keep girls under the age of 13 off the streets. The program was canceled a year ago due to lack of funding, resources and staff.
"Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith." - Galatians 6:9-10

Pray for godly men to model lifestyles of respect and dignity before other men in their community.
In Robert W. Reed’s article on “The Marks of Godly Men,” he says, “Manhood in this day and age is measured with a false balance. The world sees a “man” as one who can run the fastest, lift the most weights, drive the fastest, punch the hardest, swim the farthest, dive the deepest, kick the pigskin through two up-right poles the straightest, slam dunk the best, hit a ball the fastest and farthest, etc.
The Lord describes manhood quite differently. To be Godly men you must possess the characteristics that He possesses, to strive to be like Him. To be . . .
Men of Faith - “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." - Proverbs 3:5-6
Strong & Courageous - “Haven't I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." - Joshua 1:9
Men of Integrity- Job’s characteristics of being a godly man shine through in chapter 29 as it accounts his concern for the poor, widows and the fatherless, and how he had walked in righteousness before the Lord. It reveals how he stood against sin and gave counsel to those in need of godly directions.
Men of Principle - “And I sought for a man among them that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none." - Ezekiel 22:30
Ezekiel was a man who stood in the gap.
Men of Prayer - “Therefore, I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or argument." - 1Timothy 2:8
Men of Endurance- “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” - 2Timothy 4:7
And there are many more character traits to strive toward. Not an easy task in this day, but certainly worth it. I am thankful for the men God has placed in my life that exhibit these and other godly qualities. I would personally like to thank each one of you who came out Tuesday night (Sept. 17) for our first Human Trafficking Outreach meeting at Love in Action International Ministries. It was awesome to meet all of you who are willing to step into the battle against something that so many want to turn a blind eye to.
Thank you for taking the time and making the effort to stand against this injustice. I can’t wait to see where God will lead us next, and for what part He is sending you to fulfill. You, like Naomi, will make an eternal difference in the life of someone else.

Continue to pray for peace in Zamboanga City
Last week I posted an urgent prayer request on our Facebook page and asked people to pray for people living in Zamboanga City, Philippines, and especially our Christian brothers and sisters. The city had come under attack from 200 Mulsim rebels - a terrorist group called the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF).
The MNLF is one of many Musljm rebel groups in the southern Philippines who have been in conflict with the Philippine government for decades. They all want their own land and laws. Many of them have connections to global terrorist organizations like Al-Qaeda. These groups are notorious for attacks, bombings and kidnappings.
On Sept. 9, at least 200 MNLF rebels attacked Zamboanga City, which is a major port city of 1 million people. The rebels' goal apparently was to raise their flag at city hall. As they attacked the city, they took more than 100 hostages to use as human shields. The attack shutdown this large city, including its ports and airport. Most businesses and industry were shutdown. This caused a food shortage in much of the southern region of the island of Mindanao and small islands south of Mindanao in the area called the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao.
The Associated Press reports today that 14 Philippine soldiers and police, seven civilians and 86 rebels have been killed during the 10-day standoff that has displaced more than 100,000 people from their homes.
Some of those evacuated were LIA Philippines pastors and their churches. The closed ports also affected our pastors on the Muslim island of Basilan. Food became scarce in Zamboanga City and other islands like Basilan and Tawi-Tawi.
Thanks to our faithful supporters, we were able to send some funds to help nine of our pastors and churches. So many of you have been praying, and the pastors all send their thanks for the prayers and support. To know they are not alone during such intense times is very meaningful, and to be able to purchase food and medicine is an answer to their prayers.
The situation appears to be improving as there are only 30-40 rebels remaining in two villages. However, there are still 14 hostages. Please continue to pray for the conflict to end without any more deaths.
Please continue to pray for our pastors and their congregations. It is still very unsettling for the people after going through the bombings and gunfire that's occurred the past 10 days.
We have a team of LIA Philippines pastors going to Zamboanga City to minister to the needs of the people with some supplies. We were able to help provide Christian tracts that they will hand out to the people there as well. Pray that their hearts will be open to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and see that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
Pray that an even greater revival will break out among the Muslims in the Philippines. We have seen thousands make decisions for Jesus over the past two years. Join us in prayer that tens of thousands will turn to Jesus now.

30 attend first Human Trafficking outreach meeting
We
are so excited about our new Human Trafficking Outreach ministry. Gia Hughes is the director of this outreach ministry and she
did a great job leading our first meeting as nearly 30 people attended.
We have been conducting outreaches with a smaller team of volunteers who are strong at street ministry and meeting with local law enforcement over the past few months. Now we are ready for the next step and that is opening it up to others to become involved. Seeing nearly 30 people attend our first meeting was exciting, and we really appreciate Investigator Ketchum of the Dothan Police Department attending tonight. He provided a lot of great insight.
One of the keys to a successful Human Trafficking ministry is working closely with law enforcement. We are thankful to have the support of the Dothan Police Department, Houston County Sheriff Department and Alabama State Troopers. We look forward to working with them to do our part to shine the light on the horrific injustice of human trafficking.
Tonight was an introductory meeting. Our next meeting will be next Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 7:30 p.m. at Love In Action, 279 W. Main St., ste. 3 (Samaritan Clinic).
Thank you Gia for your leadership, and thanks to everyone who attended. Human trafficking enslaves 27 million people in the world today, and it's happening right here in Dothan. Help us get the word out through our awareness campaign. If you see anything that looks suspicious, don't hesitate to call 911. Our local law enforcement will respond. And, even if nothing is going on, they would rather respond and check it out than to let an injustice continue.
Pray for those exploited through human trafficking. Pray for them to be rescued, to escape, to be set free. Pray for law enforcement as they battle the fastest growing crime in the world. Pray for those doing the trafficking, that they will find deliverance from the extreme evil they are enslaved to. Pray for those buying slaves. They need salvation. Without the demand, there would be no need for human trafficking.

As we at Love in Action International Ministries have only recently entered the fight against human trafficking in our area, there have been wonderful groups waging war on this horrible injustice for years. We are thankful for their willingness to share what they have learned. Through their experiences and knowledge, we are able to gain a better understanding of what we can do locally to bring God’s light to this situation. I would like to highlight two of the groups that we learn so much from. Take time to visit their sites and learn more for yourself.
The A21 Campaign: The A21 Campaign exists to abolish injustice in the 21st century through a comprehensive system of preventative measures, victim protection, prosecution of violators, and strategic partnerships. The A21 campaign was founded in 2008 by Christine Caine, Christian author and motivational speaker. Polaris Project: Polaris Project is a leading organization in the global fight against human trafficking and modern-day slavery. “Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” - James 1:21-22
If the Lord has placed a desire in your heart to take a stand against Human Trafficking, I invite you to join us on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the Love In Action International Ministries Center Offices at 279 W. Day 12: Praying for the exploited

PRAY that God will remove the lustful desires of the "johns" who seek sex services.
“People never crumble in a day, it’s a slow fade,” is the chorus to a favorite Casting Crown song. And it’s very true. People do not sink to the depth of buying sex without there being some prior behavior that has fueled it. The actions we take are always preceded by the choices we make.
To have a thought about something doesn’t make it a sin. Satan is always shooting fiery darts into our minds to make us think evil and impure thoughts. But he is subtle, he doesn’t stray too much from what you already think, diluting the truth in you. And then a little farther and farther away from the original truth so that you don’t recognize it as truth any more. Now he has you where he wants you. If ungodly thoughts are not banished at the onslaught, but left to dwell and ponder over, a choice always follows.
Every choice or decision you make counts. You can choose to engage or walk away; to participate or restrain. One of the leading contributors into feeding the wrong kinds of lustful desires is pornography. The images our eyes see can never be erased from our minds. You can’t just unsee something. Although it is wide-spread and readily available, you still have to make the choice to go there (to that Internet site, to that strip club, etc.), to buy that (magazine, book, etc.), to watch that (program, channel or movie, etc.). It is still your choice.

At every step in allowing this stronghold to build in your life, God offers an opportunity to turn to His ways instead of your own. Before the battle took place in the field, it began in the mind. Every day in my prayers I ask the Lord to help me to “think right and righteously” over everything I encounter for that day. I want to think like He thinks, not like I think in my limited capabilities. We must be intentional to use what the Lord gives us to guard our minds and bodies.
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. PRAY that God will remove the lustful desires of the "johns" who seek sex services.
“People never crumble in a day, it’s a slow fade,” is the chorus to a favorite Casting Crown song. And it’s very true. People do not sink to the depth of buying sex without there being some prior behavior that has fueled it. The actions we take are always preceded by the choices we make.
To have a thought about something doesn’t make it a sin. Satan is always shooting fiery darts into our minds to make us think evil and impure thoughts. But he is subtle, he doesn’t stray too much from what you already think, diluting the truth in you. And then a little farther and farther away from the original truth so that you don’t recognize it as truth any more. Now he has you where he wants you. If ungodly thoughts are not banished at the onslaught, but left to dwell and ponder over, a choice always follows.
Every choice or decision you make counts. You can choose to engage or walk away; to participate or restrain. One of the leading contributors into feeding the wrong kinds of lustful desires is pornography. The images our eyes see can never be erased from our minds. You can’t just unsee something. Although it is wide-spread and readily available, you still have to make the choice to go there (to that Internet site, to that strip club, etc.), to buy that (magazine, book, etc.), to watch that (program, channel or movie, etc.). It is still your choice.
